Rhubarb Jones

It is of interest to me that my book has had such international appeal. After all, it is a book about U.S. baby names pulled from U.S. records, but I’ve done interviews with radio shows and magazines in the UK, New Zealand, Brazil, and now Canada.

I just finished a spot on the “Joe” show, 92.5 FM in Edmonton with Rhubarb Jones and J’lyn Nye. It was a lot of fun. Maybe that’s because my book resonated with host Rhubarb. Lucky for him, vegetable names (and food names in general) are not unheard of (remember these: Sandwich Green, Hero Brat, Mayo Head, Tuna Fish, Bread White?).

In any case, I’m grateful for the international support and I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. People everywhere are looking for a good chuckle.

Go world.

The funniest name I’ve run across in making my tree lately was in the ancient side from Wales…his name was Dynod Donaut and he was from Dumnonia. Just say that out loud: Dynod Donaut from Dumnonia. He was the grandfather of Coel of Camulod, “Old King Cole.” I’m sure it wasn’t a funny name back then.

I think that names can be exotic, but why must they be sooo far out there, you know? Here’s a great list of exotic baby names that aren’t going to cause your child to run and change it’s name! ;) http://www.babyhold.com/list/Irish_Baby_Names/

This is by far my favorite bad-baby-name site on the web, in the U.S.: http://wesclark.com/ubn/

    Hours and hours of amusement!
